What a deal!

I'm so excited that I just had to share. My pants have been getting kind of tight so I wanted to go ahead and try to find some maternity pants that I can wear over the next few months before it gets warm enough to get into shorts, skirts, and capris. So we went out to the Gap Outlet today (which is my own personal hell, by the way) and I found 3 pairs of long maternity pants in my size: jeans, a pair of green khakis, and a pair of cords. None of them are the most fashionable pieces of clothing I will ever own, but they will definitely do the trick. But the best part is that the total for all three after tax was only like $12. Can you believe that? It's awesome! The pants were only $1.99 each and the jeans were $4.99 because they were having a sale. I'm so excited because I'm so irritated at the prospect of spending a lot of money on big, ugly maternity clothes that I'm only going to wear for a few months. At least now when I end up needing something to wear in the next few weeks I will be prepared. Still have to figure out what to do about work clothes, though...

First Baby Clothes

Mom and Rach and I went shopping for bedding for the nursery last weekend and I found some cute little newborn onesies on sale so I went ahead and bought a few. They're so cute and they will be perfect for when our little person comes home at the end of the summer. I especially love the little animals on the butts :-) It's definitely hard to appreciate from the pictures how tiny they are. It's crazy to think how teeny this little person is going to be. Also, while I am still certain I do not want to know the sex of the baby before it's born, the neutral baby clothes aren't nearly as cute as the the little boy and girl ones. I'm also finding it's the same story on the bedding...

I do have to admit that these are not the first articles of apparel that I have purchased for the baby. I also bought it some sock monkey slippers before I was even pregnant. They were too cute I just couldn't resist. I felt a little crazy doing it, but I'm glad I did now. They're so cute!

All of the early screen testing came back normal so the probability of the baby having Downs Syndrome or other chromosomal abnormalities is very, very low. I still have to go next week to have a blood test as a second part to the test, but I'm sure everything will be fine. I went for my second doctor visit last week and everything looked normal. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat again. It was much easier to find this time. Very loud and strong. So everything's looking good for a healthy baby in the next 6 months or so. My next visit is scheduled for next month when I'm 18 weeks.

In other news, my jeans are definitely starting to get tight, especially by the end of the day. We went out to dinner and bowling last weekend and I had to bowl with my pants unbuttoned. I'm a long way away from maternity clothes, though, so it should be interesting trying to figure out what to wear over the next month or two. I think in the meantime I'm at least going to have to buy a pair of jeans in a bigger size. Luckily, my suit pants for work are all already about a size too big so I should be able to keep wearing them until I get into maternity wear. I already bought a few casual things at Old Navy last weekend on clearance. I got tons of shirts, a jersey dress, and a sweater for about $100. I figure buying it little by little as I find things on sale will work better than trying to buy a bunch of stuff at once when I desperately need it because I can't wear anything else...
